"The Art of Reborning Dolls" | ||||||||
|
A process that cannot be rushed is as individual as every Special Delivery baby is unique. The materials, supplies and tools are of the highest of quality and the process is the latest in techniques. The rebirth begins with factory paint and hair being removed and all parts bathed in a baby wash. Layers of artist oil paints are applied which when heated become permanent. Acrylic and pastel paints are used for detailing, depending on each baby. Hair is micro rooted one or two hairs at a time, following the direction of the scalp and the amount of hair is appropriate for the age of the baby. The premium angora goat mohair is especially dyed for my babies and is so soft and feels just like a newborn baby head of hair. It is bonded permanently by silicone glue inside the head. The hair can be gently washed and styled anyway that appeals to mom. Little wrinkles and creases are blushed and tiny little veins with "bluing" around the delicate, thinner skin making for a transparent complexion that is just so perfect for a real-life baby.
Tiny nails are manicured for
the "just trimmed" look with
edges trimmed in an
off-white color and tinted
to appear very natural.
Nails are sealed in several
processes with a satin
varnish for durability. Glass, polymer or silicone eyes are selected in a color to match the complexion. A delicate painted baby brow is hardly visible but adds to the expression of each baby's face. Each baby has the little pink blush dots in the corner of each eye. Top and bottom eyelashes are rooted or applied and are the appropriate length for the age of the baby.
The baby is signed and dated
by the artist. | ||||||||
